Created by Charlton as a sidekick to Captain Atom, Nightshade made several appearances in Charlton titles.

Charlton was purchased by DC Comics in 1983. They integrated characters including Nightshade during the Crisis on Infinite Earths story to fix many tangled continuity loose ends.

Nightshade later joined the Suicide Squad.

Shade the Changing Man #1
