Here are the ten most valuable 1970s horror key issue comics. They are typically first appearances of major heroes, monsters or villains.
Some of the prices were artificially high due to the pandemic bubble. Those record sales definitely do not reflect the current market conditions. We have published recent sales to demonstrate the yawning gap between those crazy prices and the latest 9.8 sales.

Lowest price $100
Average price $400
Recent 9.8 Sale $12,500
Record price $26,400

The pandemic high of $10K may never be repeatable.
The Comics Code Authority basically ended the gory glory days of pre-Code horror comics.
The Code outlawed graphic violence, concepts such as walking dead, many words associated with the genre, and nudity.
Marvel created the Curtis imprint of magazines, and began publishing adult-themed horror comics in magazine format. Magazines were not subject to the Code's rules, and they leaned hard into this advantage, spilling guts and nipples all over the place!
Warren also published horror magazines at this time, the most famous of which was Vampirella. The most expensive by far is Vampirella #1. We've included it on this page in the top ten most valuable issues, even though it was published in 1969.
