Partly that's a function of demand for this popular J. Scott Campbell image, but the truth is, this is one of the rarest of all variant comics.
If you just like the image, then there are cheaper versions which look almost identical. The ruby red edition has shiny lettering on the title of the book.
By modern standards, the ruby red edition of this book is a unicorn.
There are just 36 Universal and 14 signed copies of this variant comic in the CGC census. That's just 50 copies in total in the entire world!
